Week 3 Blog Exercise

This is an image of four different lower thirds used on the discovery channel. I chose this image because I am interested in design for broadcast. The lower third is very important in television because it is used to give the viewer quick small bits of information. The lower third is designed to quickly take your focus off of the speaker for a short time and then send your attention back to the speaker. In these particular lower thirds you can see how they use high contrasting colors for the text and the objects behind them. Also the text in the lower thirds is balanced and spaced well making it easy to read the information fluidly.
